On Sunday, the first direct private flight from Auckland Airport (AKL) arrived in Costa Rica. The flight came from the largest and busiest airport in New Zealand to the Daniel Oduber-Quiros International Airport (LIR), known as Guanacaste Airport.
According to Coriport, the company in charge of managing the airport, this was the first non-stop flight from New Zealand to Costa Rica.
"This is a private flight in a Gulfstream G650ER aircraft with a duration of more than 13 hours," the company said.
The flight took off from New Zealand on Saturday and arrived in the country at 7 a.m. Costa Rica time on Sunday. On board were 20 vacationing tourists.
Recently, the airport announced the first direct private flight from Australia to Guanacaste.
The expansion of the runway is part of some improvements that the airport has announced. Now passengers can access the newly inaugurated pet zone.
Also, the airport inaugurated a movement energy phone charging center. They installed stationary bicycles in the boarding halls where passengers could produce electricity while waiting for their flight.
