The dental team of the National Geriatric Public Hospital, located in downtown San José, offers home dentistry to all patients who cannot go to the hospital to receive that medical treatment.

According to Social Security, hospital dentists average about 980 patients living in San José Province.

Dentists are delivering a full range of dental services such as whitening, extraction, restoration, fillings and dentures among others.

This home dental service benefit is given as part of the Geriatric Community Care program, which focuses on caring for people with physical disabilities or who suffer from an illness that prevents them from going to the hospital.

If patients have more complex dental health problems, the hospital teams will set up a ride from their home to the hospital where they can receive adequate medical attention.

Social Security has launched several massive medical service campaigns to recover the medical services delayed in the last two years due to the pandemic. 

Recently, the Enrique Baltodano Briceño Public Hospital in Guanacaste announced a campaign of dermatology medical treatments.

Also, the San Rafael Public Hospital in Alajuela Province launched a campaign to advance surgeries.

In April, the same hospital launched a campaign to advance medical appointments for diagnostic tests.

In May, a mammograms campaign in Upala Public Hospital was launched.

Also, the Golfito Public Hospital began its knee replacement surgery campaign.

In March, Puntarenas Publich Hospital launched its campaigns to attend to 1,500  patients.

Social Security has increased the number of surgeries and medical appointments due to the decrease in cases of covid-19.
