Conchal Beach in Santa Cruz Canton, Guanacaste Province, was recognized as the best beach in the world by the Big 7 Travel Limited online magazine based in Wetherby, England.

"There’s no getting around it, Costa Rica is the hottest destination to visit right now," reads the report. "Not only does it offer staggering biodiversity, this eco-friendly destination boasts one of the best beaches in the world. This tiny beach is covered in crushed seashells and wrapped around a turquoise bay. Paradise. "

The travel experts' recognition of Conchal Beach is based on their annual 50 Best Beaches in the World ranking. The index counts the aggregated stores from previous media results, official Blue Flag locations and contributions from the magazine editorial team.

This beach is located south of Brasilito District, which is separated by a rocky headland (Punta Conchal), from which there is a beautiful panoramic view of the beach and the entire coastline to the south. This inlet is about a mile long and gets its name from the beach composed of millions of shell fragments.

"It is lined with lush vegetation, a mangrove, and crystal clear waters. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the country and is ideal for swimming, hiking, horseback riding, boat excursions, and other water sports, including diving," said the Tourism Institute in its statement. "This beach has been awarded the blue flag ecological certification, which identifies it as a clean and safe beach."

The beach is one of the top attractions for tourists visiting Guanacaste. The province with a total of 5,921 sq. miles and more than 400 miles of coastline, comprises the Pacific Coast area from the border of Nicaragua to the Bongo River estuary in the Nicoya Peninsula.

This area is home to a very important section of Costa Rica’s cultural and natural heritage and boasts a significant number of protected areas including water, land, mountain and coastal ecosystems.

"The incomparable beauty of its landscapes, warm climate and flourishing nature make Guanacaste one of the most popular and most visited destinations in Costa Rica," added the institute. "Along the Guanacaste coastline are a number of beaches perfect for swimming and enjoying the warm Pacific Ocean waters. The coastal landscape is exceptional with its array of white-sand beaches and calm, intense-blue waters."

The magazine recognized second place in Turquoise Bay in Exmouth, Australia, followed by the third-best beach in Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos.

Big 7 Travel Limited is one of many magazines recognizing Costa Rica as a good destination. This week the U.S. business magazine Forbes included the country among the ten cheapest places in the world to live for people moving abroad.

Recently, Costa Rica was chosen by the Spanish magazine Viajar (travel in the English language) as the best International Sustainable Destination, highlighting the country as a leader in this category.

Also, Travel+Leisure, an international tourism magazine based in New York, USA, shared their list of the best Costa Rican beaches for surfing, snorkeling and wildlife spotting.

Additionally, the British magazine Wanderlust Travel recognized Costa Rica as the most desired country by tourists.

Records show that during the first half of the year, there have already been over 1.2 million tourists in Costa Rica.

Just last year, over 1.3 million tourists visited Costa Rica.
