The
Spanish travel magazine recently
announced the winning international
tourist destinations that stand out
for offering accommodation to
tourists, without neglecting climate
protection regulations, economic,
social and environmental needs. According
to the institute, it is the first time
that the judges give unanimous
recognition. Costa Rica was chosen for
being a country that offers
responsible tourism in eight
biological reserves and for being a
destination committed to
sustainability. "The
sustainable tourism development model
that distinguishes us worldwide allows
us to be recognized with this award
and commits us to continue working to
be the ideal destination to connect
with nature, a sustainable sanctuary
that offers tourists unique
experiences," Ireth Rodríguez,
institute PR said.
The institute's statistics show that Spain is one of the main countries whose tourists visit Costa Rica. More than 49,000 Spanish tourists have visited the country this year.
Just last year, over 1.3 million tourists visited Costa Rica.
