The Tourism Institute sponsored an article in the Mexican newspaper La Reforma to promote Costa Rica as a versatile destination.

"It is time to continue placing Costa Rica in the world," said the institute in its statement. "This is part of the permanent efforts of the institute's advertising department."

Reforma newspaper began publishing in 1993. It currently prints over 131,000 daily copies and has more than 68,000 subscribers.

The article recognizes Costa Rica as a destination for tourists who love nature and ecotourism and for couples who want to live unique and unrepeatable experiences.

According to the piece, Costa Rica is a pioneer country in ecotourism worldwide. "The country offers outdoor activities that make you feel butterflies in your stomach, such as canopy or rafting in Sarapiquí and Turrialba, more alternatives have been added, those that not only allow you to have a good time but also create moments that last a lifetime."

In addition, the article mentions the country as a " place ideally for people who love adventure, it should be noted that the country has become a favorite of couples in love or and also of those who are looking for an ideal place to celebrate an anniversary."

Among the places recommended in the article are the beaches in Guanacaste and Puntarenas, as well as the islands in Nicoya Gulf. Among the best beaches are Nosara, Manuel Antonio, Culebra, on the Pacific Coast, and Tortuguero, Limón or Cahuita, on the Caribbean Coast.

To boost tourism, in April, authorities eliminated the covid pass requirement for fully-vaccinated people and the policy insurance requirement for unvaccinated people.

Since then, the government eased the pandemic health guidelines. The country will no longer need tourists to present a negative covid-19 test, quarantine upon arrival, be fully vaccinated against covid-19 or travel policy insurance. Also, the online Health Pass was disabled.

As part of the country's strategy to boost tourism, the institute sponsored an article in the Canadian Pax Nouvelles online magazine.

As of April, Costa Rica had over 845,000 tourists in the country, according to the institute statistics.

Last year, over 1.3 million tourists arrived in Costa Rica.
