The Tourism Institute is promoting the country as a reliable destination at the World Travel Market (WTM) tourist fair which is held this week at the Expo Center North in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

According to the institute, the country offers a wide variety of options for contact with nature with the partnership of eight Costa Rican companies that participated in the fair, such as Meridianos Travel Agency, Best of Costa Rica Tour Operator DMC, Travel Excellence, San Bada Manuel Antonio Hotel, Green World Adventures, Hacienda Guachipelín Hotel, EC Rent a car and Costa Rica Top Tours Agency.

Representatives of these companies are holding round tables of negotiations with Brazilian travel agents and tour operators.

Participation in tourism fairs is important for the positioning of Costa Rica as a tourist destination, said the institute in its statement.

Institute statistics show last year, more than 100,000 visitors came from South America, of these more than 24,000 were from Colombia, over 17,000 from Argentina, more than 16,000 came from Peru and more than 14,000 from Brazil.

As part of the country's strategy to boost tourism, authorities participated recently in the Seatrade Cruise Global 2023 Fair, which was held in Florida, U.S.A.

The Institute records show that in 2022, about 2.3 million tourists visited the country. That is one million more visitors than in 2021.
