The Chicago, Illinois headquartered TransUnion, a global consumer credit reporting agency, announced the opening of a new Global Capability Center in Heredia Province.

According to the firm, the new facilities will provide near-time zone language coverage and business continuity for its associates and clients in North and South America. They are providing services such as application development, cloud, intelligent automation, business process management, data science and analytics, shared services, back-office functions and contact centers.

“Associates in Costa Rica will bring a wide mix of skills to the TransUnion business, helping drive greater global efficiencies for our customers,” Eric Hess, Trans Union’s Executive Vice President for Global Operations said. “It will see us facilitate trust in faster and more efficient ways, helping consumers access the financial services they need to succeed.”

Recruitment for 100 new employees is open to applicants from across the country, as it will offer the opportunity for them to work from home. TransUnion also has an office in Heredia with desks, collaboration and innovation spaces for those wanting to use them, and meeting rooms and conferencing facilities.

People interested in applying for a job should visit the company's Careers website.

Even though new businesses are creating jobs, the unemployment rate has increased to 11.6%, according to the National Employment Survey. The data recorded from September to November shows that there are more than 287,000 people without registered jobs. Of these, 165,000 are women, making up 57% of unemployed people in the country.

TransUnion is one of many U.S. firms investing in Costa Rica. Recently the Washington-based company Smartsheet, a U.S. technology company that provides a platform for work management, announced the expansion of its facilities located in Heredia Province.
