The
Massachusetts-headquartered Viant, a
global services provider to the
medical device industry, announced the
expansion of its medical device
manufacturing facility in Heredia
Province. The
company is expected to create 500
jobs. Recruitment has begun for a
range of positions in the areas of
engineering, production, quality,
supply chain, finance and human
resources. People interested in
applying for any of these open
positions should contact their human
resources department at crresumes@viantmedical.com. For the
second consecutive year, Viant is
expanding operations due to strong
performance and business development
within the country. Viant
specializes in molding, extrusion and
assembly of complex interventional,
surgical and other medical devices.
The facility will grow from four
buildings to seven, with a 43%
increase in footprint for a total of
more than 250,000 square feet. “We were
confident that prospective customers
who visited our Costa Rica site would
see that Viant is an ideal partner for
large, complex programs,” Alton
Shader, Viant CEO said. “We have the
network of facilities, the
capabilities, the experienced people,
the customer-focused culture and the
capital to fuel growth.”
The company expects new manufacturing and warehouse buildings to be in use by November with an additional manufacturing building opening in March 2023.
Medical device manufacturing companies, such as Viant, developed the country’s main export product and positioned Costa Rica among the top five most attractive nations for medical devices globally, according to the Ministry of Foreign Trade.
Viant is one of many U.S. companies hiring in Costa Rica. This week, Moody's announced the expansion of its operations in the country.
Even though
new businesses are creating jobs in
Costa Rica, the unemployment rate
remains at 11.8%, according to the
National Employment Survey. The data
recorded from June to August, show that
there are more than 292,000 people
without registered jobs. Of these,
154,000 are women, making up 52% of
unemployed people in the country.
