Avionyx, a company specializing in developing and verifying software for aeronautical systems, is creating more than 50 new vacancies for its facilities located in the America Free Trade Zone in Heredia. 

"For more than 15 years, we’ve enlisted local Costa Rican talent to deliver world-class engineering software services to well-known customers across the globe," Larry Allgood, CEO of Avionyx said. "Our reputation in the aeronautical industry has grown as a result, and we look forward to making Costa Rica the number one location for delivering the software needs of aerospace companies.” 

This growth takes place after Avionyx was acquired by U.S.-based company Joby Aviation, Inc.

The firm has 100% of its engineering department in Costa Rica. It is focused on developing, reviewing, analyzing, and testing software for avionic system certification according to the regulations and standards of the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Avionyx is one of many international companies hiring in Costa Rica. Recently, the Argentina-based Globant announced 200 job vacancies in its facilities in Heredia.

Even though new businesses are creating jobs in Costa Rica, the unemployment rate is 13.3%, according to the National Employment Survey. The survey reveals that, from February to April, there are approximately more than 325,000 people without registered jobs. Of these 176,000 are women which is 54% of unemployed people in the country.
