Foreigners interested in applying for a work visa in the category of Digital Nomads can apply online, announced the General Directorate of Migration.


Authorities enabled the Tramite Ya website, or apply now in the English language, where interested people can apply for the visa


The basic requirements to apply for the visa are:


  • $100 visa application fee.
  • Own a valid passport.
  • Comply with the tourist visa requirements, issued by the Costa Rican Consulate in the country of origin of the applicant.
  • In the case of a single visa application, the interested person must have at least $3,000.
  • People interested in requesting a family visa must have a monthly income of $4,000.


After the application is made, the Migration staff will resolve the case within 15 days, authorities said.
