As of Dec. 10, Air France will operate five direct flights a week between the Juan Santamarķa International Airport (SJO) in Alajuela Province and Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) in Paris, France, announced the Institute of Tourism.

According to Antoine Cros, manager of Air France, passengers will travel in an Airbus 350 aircraft, "the most modern and environmentally efficient aircraft in the Air France fleet."

Flights will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The departures are set from SJO at 8 p.m. Costa Rican time and arrive at CDG at 1 p.m. of the next day France time.

The flight back to Costa Rica will leave at 1 p.m. from CDG, France time, and arrive at SJO at 6 p.m. of the next day Costa Rican time.

Additional information about flights can be found on the airline website.

According to institute statistics, as of September, more than 45,000 French tourists visited Costa Rica by air.

Air France is one of many airlines increasing the frequency of their flights to Costa Rica. Recently, Southwest launched more flights between the U.S. and Costa Rica.

Records show that during the first half of the year, there have been over 1.2 million tourists in Costa Rica.

Just last year, over 1.3 million tourists visited Costa Rica.
