The Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in Alajuela Province, enabled 30 touch-screen kiosks to allow passengers to self-check in for their flights.
The kiosks provide a valid boarding pass on passengers' claims and verify their flight information. In case of needing help or having any inconvenience, the passenger may get support from airport staff.
The additional check-in service was enabled to provide faster services ahead of the expected high tourism season that began in November 2022 and will last until April 2023.
According to Aeris, the company in charge of managing the airport, prior to installing the new kiosks, it was necessary to carry out coordinated work with the airlines and various public institutions such as the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, the General Directorate of Migration, the Air Surveillance, the General Directorate of Customs, the National Animal Health Service among others.
"The high season means increased passenger traffic at international airports and these kiosks improve the services to passengers," William Rodríguez, Minister of Tourism said.
The airport also offers other services such as food, car rentals, duty-free shops, banking and insurance services among others.
SJO operates 25 international airlines that offer flights to 36 destinations around the world. One of the many airlines that recently offered more flights to Costa Rica is KLM Royal Dutch Airlines which announced new direct flights to Holland.
