More than 50 international companies will be hiring at their job fair that takes place in San José from April 21 to 23.
According to the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (Cinde), the fair will be held at the Antigua Aduana building, in downtown San José, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., where companies are offering about 3,500 available jobs.
Those interested should first register on the Cinde Jobs website and generate the QR code for admission to the event.
The basic requirements to participate are to be over 18 years old and to have a valid identity card or residency ID known as DIMEX.
All applicants must certify their proficiency levels in a second language such as English, French or Portuguese. The language level certification will be provided for free by the Idioma Internacional Academy. These tests certify language proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference scale, which is the most widely used standard in the world.
Most of the positions require proficiency in the English language at various levels, however, there are also options available in Portuguese and French.
The companies hiring are Amazon, Bill Gosling Outsourcing, Boston Scientific, Concentrix, GEP, IBM, Western Union, MDS and TransUnion among many others.
According to the agency statistics, Costa Rica has 405 multinational companies that employ over 180,000 people in the Services, Manufacturing, and Life Sciences sectors.
Most of the international companies hiring in Costa Rica are headquartered in the U.S. Last week, the San Francisco, California-headquartered firm, Sysdig Inc. announced the open hiring for its Costa Rican offices, to meet growing demand from clients in global markets.
Even though new businesses are creating jobs, the unemployment rate remains at 11.8%, according to the National Employment Survey. The data recorded from November 2022 to January 2023, shows that there are more than 287,000 people without registered jobs. Of these, 148,000 are women, making up 51% of unemployed people in the country. ---------------------
