The California headquartered Intel, inaugurated its new Assembly and Test factory located in Belen Canton, Heredia Province.
The inauguration is part of the firm celebration of its 25th anniversary in Costa Rica.
“Costa Rica is a fitting location for this important expansion of our assembly and test operations. The work we do here is critical to rebalancing the global semiconductor supply chain and supplying the industry with much-needed chips,” Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel said. “We appreciate the partnership, passion, and commitment from the government, the community, and the local ecosystem since we opened our first operation 25 years ago and look forward to many more.”
Throughout its 25 years of operations, today Intel Costa Rica has the biggest and most complex logistics of a workforce. They surpass 3,700 employees in the 26,000 square meters across its plant, and 17,000 square meters of multi-operation engineering laboratories centered on software, hardware, and platforms, as well as the most specialized service center of its time.
Currently, the company has opened about 100 job vacancies for production technicians, manufacturing and maintenance supervisors and process engineers, among others. People interested in a job vacancy should visit Intel's Jobs website.
Intel is one of many international companies hiring in Costa Rica. Last week, the Dublin-based tech data firm Experian announced they are hiring.
Even though new businesses are creating jobs in Costa Rica, the unemployment rate is 11.17 %, according to the National Employment Survey. The survey reveals that, from April to June, there are approximately more than 285,000 people without registered jobs. Of these 151,000 are women, making up 52% of unemployed people in the country.
