Representatives of 35 Costa Rican tourism companies are promoting their services at the International Tourism Fair, Fitur, which is held in Madrid, Spain.

The fair is taking place this week and is considered one of the most important business events of the tourism industry with the presence of over 8,500 companies from 130 countries, according to the Tourism Institute.

The institute showcased a booth where representatives of tourist companies will be looking to make alliances and attract Spanish tourists.

Some of the Costa Rican companies that sent representatives to Spain are Costa Rican Trails, Panorama Tours, Arenal Hanging Bridges, Místico Park, Hover Tours Costa Rica and Asuaire Travel, among many others.

"This fair helps Costa Rica be present in the minds of potential Spanish and European tourists," said Gustavo J. Segura, Minister of Tourism.

Segura traveled to Madrid to participate in person at the fair where, in addition to attending meetings, he will be giving interviews to the press, the institute said.

Institute records show that in 2022, more than 53,000 Spaniards visited the country by air.

Recently, the Spanish magazine Viajar recognized Costa Rica as the best "International Sustainable Destination", highlighting the country as a leader in this category.

During the first half of 2022, there have already been over 1.2 million tourists in Costa Rica.

In 2021, over 1.3 million tourists visited Costa Rica.
