Germany
men's soccer team beats Costa Rica Team
4-2, but both teams were
eliminated 2022 FIFA World Cup. Also
today, in another game between Japan
and Spain, the Japanese Team won 2-1
over the Spain Team, due
to that result German
Team was eliminated.
"For a second consecutive FIFA World
Cup Germany has failed to reach the
knockout stage," the football soccer
leader organization said in its
statement. According
to Phil McNulty, Chief football
writer of the
British Broad Corporation (BBC), at
the game between Costa Rica and
Germany, the European Team was in
complete control and in front
through Serge Gnabry's 10th-minute
goal, only for Costa Rica to turn
the match on its head to raise the
remarkable possibility of Spain also
going out. "Yeltsin
Tejeda equalized after Germany
keeper Manuel Neuer pushed out
Kendall Waston's header in the 58th
minute before Neuer was deemed to
have the final touch for the second
goal 12 minutes later when Juan
Pablo Vargas bundled in from close
range," McNulty said.
At
that stage, Costa Rica was going
through with Japan, and Spain was
heading for the exit. "It would
have capped one of the most
astonishing nights in World Cup
history, but Germany substitute
Kai Havertz restored a measure of
normality to proceedings with two
clinical finishes to extinguish
Costa Rica's hopes of springing a
major shock," McNulty added. However,
Niclas Fullkrug added a
last-minute fourth to confirm
victory, but it will be of no
consolation as Germany failed to
reach the knockout stage of the
tournament for the second time in
succession. The
Costa Rica Team was listed in
Group E, where they were competing
against Spain, Japan and
Germany. This
year marks the 22nd anniversary of
the FIFA World Cup. The
international tournament is the
quadrennial men's football soccer
championship played by the
national teams of the member
associations of FIFA. The
competition is taking place in
Qatar until Dec. 18.
