Costa Rica adds support service to get the covid pass 110321

The Ministry of Health sanctioned almost 250 support centers offering free guidance to accessing the required digital covid pass beginning Nov. 15.

Experts will attend the public in person, to obtain the covid pass, either enabled on any device with internet or a printed document.

Fully vaccinated people (Costa Ricans or foreigners) who have received the covid-19 vaccine in Costa Rica are required to have a digital covid pass. There have been 6,567,309 vaccines applied to people in the country.

The covid pass is obtained through a Quick Response Security code, QR, which is a type of barcode that contains the person's vaccination information. This technology will allow for quick verification of the covid pass.

According to the ministry, these offices will provide help to obtain the covid pass to people who have had problems obtaining it or who do not have internet access.

The offices are located in 102 branches of the Electricity Institute (ICE), 75 branches of the Social Security, in the municipalities of San José city, Santa Ana, Moravia, Naranjo, Palmares, Paraíso, Santa Cruz, San Isidro and San Joaquín de Flores. Also in 60 public libraries across the country.

The covid pass will be mandatory to enter almost all shops or massive events as of January 8, 2022. However, several places plan on requiring the covid pass next month.

According to the government, in a few weeks businesses will be able to access a new app to enable the reading of the covid-pass. The free application will be available on Huawei, Apple and Google systems.

In December, the requirement to demand the covid pass from clients will be up to the business’s discretion, because the government authorized a transition period. The option is to allow the entry of 100 fully vaccinated clients, or, allow the entry of only 50% of the clients between vaccinated and unvaccinated.

However, come Jan. 8 almost all establishments open to the public must require the covid pass to enter.

Authorities established a new and easier system to obtain the covid pass for people who were inoculated in this country.

As of Friday, Costa Rica has imported 7,031,685 vaccines against covid-19.
