The California-based company, Intel, is hiring 200 people in Costa Rica. The open job positions are in different specializations such as engineering, manufacturing, finance, and information technology, as well as in other areas.

According to the company, which opened its branch in the country in 1998, currently employs 3,100 people. The corporation’s activities are divided into three major centers such as:

Research and Development Center (R&D)- Currently, the largest and the biggest exporter of this type of service in the country, dedicated to the design, prototyping, testing, and validation of integrated circuit solutions and platforms. A 30% of Intel’s workforce is employed by the R&D Center.

The Global Services Center- Designs execute, and transform multifunctional business processes at a global level in Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Sales and Marketing, and the supply chain. Another 45% of the workforce is employed here.

Processor Assembly and Testing- A 25% of the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations organization is employed here. This is where they assemble, test, and package some of the corporation's main servers.

“This is a recognition of the passion, commitment, and positive impact of the 3,100 employees dedicated to Intel, " said Ileana Rojas as Vice President of the Global Design Engineering Group. "We have shown that Costa Ricans can climb to the executive level in a multinational corporation and, in this way, contribute to the development of our country.”

People interested in applying may find all the details only on the Intel Careers page.

In July, Intel announced a $600 million investment for the expansion of its operations in Costa Rica.

The company wants to speed up its assembly and testing operations to handle new client demands. The funds will also help with growth in the existing operations in the country. The manufacturing area alone will have 26,000 square meters, which is 11,000 more than what had been planned originally, according to the Investment Promotion Agency, Cinde.

In total, 750 people have been hired from 2020 to date for Assembly and Testing, the Research and Development Center, and the Global Services Center.

“We are very pleased to be able to announce this increase in investment to be made in the country and that it is also associated with a hike in the originally reported job positions," Timothy Scott Hall, the Manager of Intel Costa Rica said.

According to Scott, the corporation foresees efforts in different geographical areas in the works to increase competitiveness. Currently, the existing infrastructure, the energy with the operations that are already in place, the talent, the Free Trade Zone Program and the legal certainty provide Intel a positive option to expand its capacity in Costa Rica.

They also increased funding for new equipment and technology to $40 million in the Research and Development Center laboratories. This investment is dedicated to designing, prototyping, testing, and validating integrated circuit solutions. The space and infrastructure for the different laboratories are being increased.

Intel is one of many U.S. companies hiring in Costa Rica. Last week, the Minnesota- based Nexter, announced its opening of 200 job vacancies in its facilities located in Cartago Province.

Costa Rica remains with a 15% unemployment rate, according to the National Employment Survey. The survey reveals that there are approximately more than 368,000 people without registered jobs in the country from August to October 2021.

According to Cinde, Costa Rica closes 2021 with a record in the international companies' investment and new job creations, for the sixth consecutive year.
