Minnesota- based Nextern, a MedTech manufacturer, announced its opening of 200 job vacancies in its facilities located in La Lima Free Zone, Cartago Province.

Nextern is a manufacturer company that works with physicians to create, modify, optimize and manufacture medical devices, such as catheters that provide access and therapy for structural heart, neurovascular and electrophysiology procedures.

"We chose Costa Rica for its political stability, the vision of sustainable development, and its strategic location close to our North American market," said Richard Farrell, CEO of Nextern. " But in particular, we chose this country for the high quality of its human talent and high education."

The company in Cartago is housing the manufacturing building as well as the design and engineering research center for the development of new products. They are hiring bilingual professionals in process engineering, product development, and quality, as well as manufacturing operators with at least five years of experience in the sector. People interested may apply by emailing their resume to HRCR@nextern.com.

The Costa Rica firm branch opened in May, is the fourth for the company, with other locations in Minnesota (USA), Vietnam and China.

According to the Minister of Foreign Trade, from January to October 2021, Costa Rica's exports reached record numbers, a growth of 26% over 2020. The export of medical devices grew $1.166 billion, equivalent to a 38% increase over the same period of last year.

Costa Rica remains with a 15% unemployment rate, according to the National Employment Survey. The survey reveals that there are approximately more than 368,000 people without registered jobs in the country from August to October 2021.

Nextern is one of many U.S. companies expanding operations in Costa Rica. Last week, the California-based Helm360 announced the expansion of its operations in the country.
