By the A.M. Costa Rica staff The U.S. government, through its embassy, donated about $36,000 in new desks, appliances for the school cafeteria, and construction materials to two public schools.
The U.S. Embassy Office of Defense Representative Humanitarian Assistance Program partnered with Liceo Rural Las Marías in Puerto Viejo in Sarapiquí Canton, Limon Province. They donated 90 student desks, chairs, teacher desks and home appliances for the school cafeteria, which serves meals to 100 students each day.
They also donated construction materials to build five restrooms, since it previously had only one for the entire school community. This donation is valued at $25,000.

Refugees, and Migration, through the
embassy, and in cooperation with
United Nations Children's Fund donated
school supply packages to 1,800
migrant families. This donation is
valued at $90,000.
