The North Carolina-headquartered HanesBrands, a global apparel manufacturer, opened a shared service center in Heredia Province.

The company manufactures and distributes famous apparel brands such as Hanes, Champion and Bonds.

The HanesBrands Costa Rica headquarters will manage part of its departments of finance, accounting and supply chain to provide coverage across its western hemisphere operations.

“We are looking for self-motivated critical thinkers who want to challenge themselves with exciting opportunities,” said Kirk Saville, senior vice president for corporate affairs for Hanesbrands. “Our new regional operations here in Costa Rica offer opportunities to help drive success with powerful, global brands.”

According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade, companies like HanesBrands in the knowledge-intensive services sector generated $4.8 billion in 2021 in Costa Rica, which represented an increase of 8% compared to the previous year.

HanesBrands, traded in the New York Stock Exchange Market as HBI, employs 59,000 people in 33 countries.

In Costa Rica they are looking for candidates to work in planning, procurement, sourcing, logistics, quality, accounts receivable processing, accounts payable processing, and corporate accounting activities. People interested in applying for a job vacancy should visit the firm's Careers site.

HanesBrands is one of many international companies investing and hiring in Costa Rica.  This week, the Korean-based firm, Global SAE, an apparel manufacturers factory inaugurated its second manufacturing plant in Cartago Province.

Even though new businesses are creating jobs in Costa Rica, the unemployment rate remains at 11.17%, according to the National Employment Survey. The survey reveals that from April to June, there are approximately more than 285,000 people without registered jobs. Of these 151,000 are women, making up 52% of unemployed people in the country.
