Traffic Police resumed their usual driving restrictions in San José City, after taking a holiday break from April 3 to 10, announced the Ministry of Public Transport.
The long break included the Catholic Holy Week from April 2 to 9, plus the Juan Santamaría National Hero Holiday celebration that was celebrated on Monday, April 10.
As of
today, vehicle restrictions apply in
Route 39, known as Circunvalación
Route, which includes all the streets
that are found around the capital city.

In this zone, the ban-on-driving rule continues from Monday through Friday, allowing driving from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. But, vehicle restrictions remain that are based on the last number of the license plate number:
• Monday: Vehicles banned with plates ending in 1 or 2.
• Tuesday: Vehicles banned with plates ending in 3 or 4.
• Wednesday: Vehicles banned with plates ending in 5 or 6.
• Thursday: Vehicles banned with plates ending in 7 or 8.
• Friday: Vehicles banned with plates ending in 9 or 0.
On weekends, Sundays and Saturdays, the driving restrictions do not apply. All types of vehicles, regardless of the vehicle plates, are allowed to circulate in the city.
The Traffic Law states that when a driver breaks the rule, they are fined $100.
Also, the Road Safety Council, known as Cosevi, which is the organization in charge of the Traffic Police offices, resumed its normal business hours from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Anyone who needs to make any claim or procedure related to a vehicle, license, plates or fines must request an appointment to visit Cosevi facilities to recover the vehicle or its plates. This appointment must be requested on the Cosevi website, enabled in Spanish language only. ---------------------
