A team of road workers began painting the traffic signs on the new highways built in several communities in Guanacaste Province, which could cause a traffic jam, warned the Ministry of Transportation.

The painting works on the highway are carried out on 0,62 miles (about 100 kilometers), including Route 21 in Santa Cruz, Route 928 in Paraiso, Route 160 in Veintisiete de Abril and Route 152 in Villareal.

The tasks contemplate the painting of centerlines, yellow borders lines, and signs among others. In addition, there will be new traffic signals installed.

During the work, there will be partial closures on specific zones. Traffic police have posted signs to guide drivers about detours. Authorities advise drivers to avoid circulating those areas to get stuck in traffic.

The works on the highways were budgeted at over $122,000, covered by the ministry. Works are expected to be completed by the end of this month.

More infrastructure improvements are taking place in the country. Recently, the ministry announced the progress in the construction of the first three-level highway and the largest viaduct in the country.

Last month, a new highway was inaugurated between the cities of Betania and San Pedro in San José.
