The first quarter of the year, from January to March, closed with 120 deaths in traffic accidents, Traffic Police reported.

Police statistics show that in January were recorded 36 fatalities, in February were reported 44 losses and in March were documented 40 deaths.

Of the total deaths, 60 were motorcyclists (which is equivalent to 50% of fatalities), 30 were drivers and the rest were passengers, pedestrians and cyclists.

Among the main causes of these road accidents were 54 for speeding, 26 for disrespecting the yellow line and invading the oncoming lane and 20 for making an unlawful U-turn, police said.

Last year closed with 484 deaths in traffic accidents, authorities reported.

People can report suspects of reckless driving behavior to the Traffic Law by dialing the 911 emergency line.
