The Mexico-headquartered company, Bimbo Group, one of the world’s largest baked goods companies, announced the expansion of its operations in Terra Campus Industrial Zone in Cartago Province.

According to the company, they are increasing their Costa Rica presence with its Global Service Center which gives services to support its North America Business Units.

“Bimbo Global Services in Costa Rica has positioned itself as a multifunctional hub and extension of the North America Center of Excellence,” Jazmín Alvarado González, Vice President of Bimbo Global Services in Costa Rica, said.

The firm is hiring for its departments of finance, accounting, IT, and human relations services. The company is seeking staff with high English or French speaking skills. Those interested in applying for a job vacancy should contact the company by emailing workwithus@grupobimbo.com.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade, international companies in the service sector, such as Bimbo, employ more than 100,000 people in Costa Rica.

Bimbo is one of the largest baking companies in the world with about 200 bakeries and other plants and around 1,600 sales centers located in 33 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa.

Bimbo Group is one of many international companies investing in Costa Rica. Last week, the New York-headquartered Merida Capital Holdings LLC announced that it will build medical cannabis cultivation, manufacturing, and finished goods production facility in Guanacaste.

Even though new businesses are creating jobs in Costa Rica, the unemployment rate remains at 11.8%, according to the National Employment Survey. The data recorded from May to July, show that there are more than 296,000 people without registered jobs. Of these, 151,000 are women, making up 51% of unemployed people in the country.
