In 2021, Costa Rica's exports increased 24%, reaching a figure of more than $14.5 billion, more than $2.8 billion compared to the same period in 2020, according to the Foreign Trade Promotion Agency.
 
Among the sectors with the highest increase in exports are metalworking (71%), electronics (37%) medical devices (33%), food (26%), plastic (26%), fishery (13%), pharmaceutical (10%), agriculture (6%),

The main buying markets for products made in Costa Rica are South America 59%, Caribbean 28%, Central and North America 26%, Asia 27%, and Europe 15%.

The main export products are medical devices, electrical wires, bananas, pineapple, syrups, coffee, electrical cables, plants among others.
 
To increase export to the U.S., some agricultural farming companies presented their products at the New York Produce Show & Conference, held in December.
