The Costa Rican athlete Sherman Guity-Guity won a gold medal in the Paralympic Grand Prix in Nodwill, Switzerland.
The World Para Athletics Grand Prix took place last week at the Swiss Paraplegic Center, with the participation of athletes from 46 countries who competed in all disciplines.
This was Guity's first international competition this year, where he set the fastest time in the 100-meter race T64 category, with a time of 10.90 seconds, the Sports Institute said in its statement.
The T64 category refers to athletes who compete in speed and have a leg amputation.
The
silver and bronze medals were won
by two Norwegians, Kenneth Heggdal
with 12.93 seconds and Sander
Hegni with 13.67. Last
year, Guity won a silver medal in
the final of the T64 100-meter
sprint of the Tokyo Paralympic
World Games that were held from
Aug. 24 to Sept. 5 in Japan. Guity's
record was 10.78 seconds in the
100 meters final, competing
against two Germans athletes Felix
Streng and Johannes Floors and the
British Jonnie Peacock.
