The Tourism Institute launched its most recent campaign to promote the country at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival that took place in Austin, Texas, USA.
The festival Kicked off on March 11 and closed its doors yesterday. The 9-day festival includes a variety of conferences on comedy, design, tourism, art, among many others. It is estimated that more than 70,000 people participate annually.
"Costa Rica has a notable position in the world, due to its sustainable tourism model that is committed to the conservation of the environment and the social progress of communities," said Carolina Trejos, director of marketing for the institute. "We are a destination that has opted for a growth model without crowds, with multiple outdoor activities, where well-being is a way of life, allowing social progress to be carried throughout the territory.”
Costa Rica has a booth decorated with a Francesco Bracci-Moreno sculpture of a turtle made from recycled material. Visitors took with them flyers about the Central American destination.
Starting Friday, April 1, the covid pass requirement for fully vaccinated tourists will be eliminated. Also eliminated is the health policy insurance requirement for unvaccinated people.
The government will not require from tourists any requirements established during the pandemic, such as presenting a negative covid-19 test, quarantine upon arrival, fully vaccinated against covid-19 or travel policy insurance.
The online Health Pass will also be disabled in April.
Authorities remind international tourists that the mandatory covid rules remain enforced for the rest of March. Visitors arriving before April 1, must have travel policy insurance for the unvaccinated and a vaccination certificate for those who are fully vaccinated.
Tourists must review the travel requirements before planning their trip to their respective country's Costa Rica embassy.
Recently, a Canadian magazine recognized Costa Rica as one of the safest countries for travelers.
