The train service will be suspended on April 6, 7 and 10 due to the holidays, the Railway Institute warned.
This year the eight-day Catholic holiday begins with Palm Sunday on April 2, which commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem to Sunday, April 9, which commemorates Jesus’ resurrection celebrated as Easter Sunday.
The train service will be suspended on Thursday, April 6 (Holy Maundy), on Friday, April 7 (Good Friday) and on Monday, April 10, due to the Juan Santamaría National Hero Holiday celebration.
According to the institute, the service will work on a normal schedule as of Tuesday, April 11. It is perfect timing, as most of the public organization's employees, such as the ones of the institute, will take their government-mandated holidays from April 1 to 10.
"These
tasks have been scheduled during the
holidays to have the least possible
impact on our users given the low
demand that happens on those dates,"
the institute said in its statement. Currently,
the train service is provided on three
routes from Monday to Friday with a
cost between $0.57 to $1 per
ticket. The first
route is from the cantons of
Curridabat to Pavas in San José
Province. The second ride is between
the provinces of San José and Cartago.
And the third trip is between the
provinces of San José, Heredia and
Alajuela.
