By the A.M. Costa Rica staff The British magazine Wanderlust Travel recognized Costa Rica as the third most desired country by tourists, according to the Tourism Institute. The Windsor, Berkshire-based Wanderlust Travel, is a British monthly travel magazine covering tourism. "This has been a difficult year, but the industry continues to innovate and seek positive solutions," said Adam Lloyds, editor of the magazine. The magazine placed Costa Rica in third in the list of annual awards for the category: "Most Desirable Country (Long Haul) 2021." The first two places in the same category were awarded to Australia and Japan respectively. According to the institute, the country was recognized after obtaining good scores from a panel of expert judges and magazine readers' opinions. “Undoubtedly, the readers, travel experts and judges of Wanderlust, saw in Costa Rica the actions that as a country we have carried out to attract tourists during this pandemic, such as: the application of sanitary guidelines, vaccination advance, an offer of sustainable products and services in all regions of the country, the biodiversity, wellness tourism encouraging reconnection with nature and what is truly essential, as well as the return of the airlines,” said Ireth Rodríguez, Institute advertising manager. This week the institute and 11 tourism companies participated virtually in the World Travel Market Business Fair, WTM. WTM London was held at Exhibition Center London in Newham, East London, the U.K. last week. There were exhibitors from Spain, the UK, France, Greece, Holland, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, among many others. The virtual fair was held Monday and Thursday.
