Before planning your weekend outdoor activities take into account the well-known sanitary guidelines to avoid getting infected by covid-19. Check out the Driving Restrictions established by the Emergency Commission. Here is a list of in-person activities for this weekend, beginning today through Sunday, Oct. 17.
Visit the Eco STEAM Day Camp in Cobano Puntarenas Province. The activity is organized by the Mangrove Society for children to learn with games and STEAM methods. The activity is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for children from 6 to 12 years old. For more information call 8532-2315.
Saturday and Sunday Judo championship knockout organized by the Costa Rican Taekwondo Federation will take place at the National Gym in Sabana Canton, San José for free. On Saturday the game starts at 8 a.m. and on Sunday it will start at 6 p.m. For more information call 2220-1310.
Tour for bikers from San José to Puntarenas is organized by Revolution Bikers CR Club. The tour starts at 7 a.m. from La Uruca Canton, San José Province. Free for bikers. For more information visit the Club's Facebook page.
Starting at 9 a.m. the Folk Crafts Sales Fair is organized by Café Rancho Arizona, located in Santo Domingo Canton, Heredia Province. Visitors could also buy traditional meals and drinks. For more information call 8814-5640.
Hiking tour will take place in the Turrialba National Park, organized by Biocaminatas Hiking Club. The activity is a medium-level of difficulty with a tour of approximately 5 hours. The tour begins at 5 a.m. The cost per person is between $25 pp or $40 pp with transportation from San José included. One day tour in the Laberinto Katira Park, located in Guatuso Canton, Alajuela Province, where the visitor can walk through natural areas and explore the two largest mazes in the country. Santa Ana Conservation Center, located in the city of the same name in San José Province, opens at 9 a.m. The place has animal farms, trails and tropical gardens. The entry costs about $7 pp and can be purchased at the zoo's box office.
Lankester Botanical Gardens, a set of gardens located in Dulce Nombre Canton, Cartago Province, opens from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The entry price is about $10 pp at the box office. Reserve a spot by calling 2511-7949.
Sky Adventures Parks are located in Monteverde, Puntarenas Province, Arenal in Alajuela, Vandará and Conchal in Guanacaste Province. They offer one-day tours to the hot springs, zip lines, water slides and horseback riding. For more information call 2479-4100.
Kalambu Hot Springs Water Park located in La Fortuna, northern zone of Alajuela Province, offers more than 10 aquatic activities and hot springs pools. Concerts and shows

Oktoberfest is organized by the German Club in Los Yoses District, San José Province. This weekend the National Philharmonic Orchestra is featuring the singer Zoran in three concerts that will take place at 6 pm at the Melico Salazar Theater, downtown San José. Ticket prices range from $31 to $58 depending on the location of the seat, which can be purchased on the E-ticket site.
This weekend the Danzaton Festival Dance will be held at the Dance Theater of the Ministry of Culture, downtown San José. On Friday the show starts at 5 pm. Friday and Sunday, National Museum, located in downtown San José, presents the exhibition of stone handicrafts of about 2000 to 1000 years old. Children's Museum, in downtown San José, will explore the Dinosaur exhibit, in addition, there will be 40 rooms with activities for children about science, music, history, among others. Gold Museum, in downtown San José, presents the exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. In addition, the new bicentennial coin will be displayed. Also, on display in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entry price is $15.
Museum of Art, located in Sabana, San José, presents the exhibition "Habitat Worlds" by Christian Wedel. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free entrance and parking.
This weekend, at local movie theaters, the new film playing this weekend is "The Addams Family 2," which is a sequel to the 2019 animated film.
Additional films in theaters are: “Dune,” "Aurora," "The Many Saints of Newark," "Venom," "No Time to Die," "Escape Room," "Paw Patrol," "Shang-Chi," among others. Most of the movie theaters are requesting the ticket to be purchased online, such as Magaly, CCM Cinemas, Cinepolis and CineMark.
