According
to the agent's report, the case began
on Wednesday when an anonymous
complaint reported a property located
in the Colonia
Virgen del Socorro community
in Alajuela. When the
agents entered the property, they
found many dissected wild animals, in
addition to remains such as skulls and
many live wild animals.

Among the
species of animals already
taxidermied, there were two jaguars, a
coyote, two pumas, a peccary, a
squirrel, an ocelot, an alligator, an
armadillo, a white-tailed deer, a
white-tailed deer head, a tapir,
eleven Hercules beetles, two beetles
of the family Scarabaeidae, a tree
frog, a leaf mantis, a snake, a
hummingbird, a raccoon, a white
sparrowhawk, a green ibis, four
oropendola nests, a woodpecker, a
parakeet, a queen bird of the genus
parula, a green parrot, a tapir skull,
a peccary skull and a feline skull.

The stuffed animals and confiscated live animals were placed in the custody of the National System of Conservation Areas.
In addition
to the animals, the agents seized a
carbine-type firearm, with a telescopic
sight, as part of the evidence in the
case.

Authorities filed an investigation case against the owner of the property suspected of breaking the Wildlife Law. If the suspect is found guilty of that crime he should pay a fine for making taxidermy without the respective authorization.
