The Public Services Regulatory Authority, Aresep, approved a decrease in gasoline prices, starting this weekend.
Aresep is the public organization in charge of setting the price of public services.
The Costa Rican Oil Refinery, Recope, is the public organization in charge of importing, distributing and calculating the price of fuels. They determined that the price of fuels decreased due to the reduction in the cost of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) which functions as a reference for Costa Rica.
According to authorities, another factor of fuel cost decreasing is the dollar-colones exchange rate which has decreased from ₡690 per $1 in June to about ₡560 per $1 today.
The new prices will be as follows:
• Super gasoline decreased to ₡731 colones per liter, about $1.30.
• Gasoline Plus 91 (regular) decreased to ₡671 per liter, about $1.19.
• Diesel decreased to ₡748 per liter, about $1.33.
The approval
of the new prices will be published in the
official government newspaper La Gaceta
this weekend.
