Crecimiento Verde program, Green Growth in the English language, provides funds to exporters with the goal of diversifying agriculture and the attraction of investments in rural areas, funded by the Costa Rican USA Foundation for Cooperation (Crusa) and the Inter-American Development Bank, among other institutions.

The program opens calls in which 34 companies will be granted $12,000 each in non-refundable funds.

The funds will be awarded companies that focus on projects related to environmental innovation of production, efficiency in energy use, the use of renewable energies, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, improve the use of water, and waste management, among others

To participate, entrepreneurs must meet the following requirements:

- Be registered as a small or medium business, SMEs.

- Have Social Security.

- Have operating permits from the Ministry of Health, local municipality or any other necessary for the operation of its business.

The deadline to apply is Aug. 26. More information can be requested on the Crusa Foundation site.

More grants were announced recently, as the Texas-based National Instruments Corporation is offering $100,000 non-refundable funds to benefit two non-governmental organizations, NGOs.

Also, the Descubre program (discover in the English language) opens a contest for non-reimbursed funds for entrepreneurs in rural areas.
