Commemorating World Tourism Day, the Tourism Institute launched a new campaign entitled "Rostros del Turismo" (the many faces of tourism in the English language), which consists of a short video series in the Spanish language about entrepreneurial pioneers in tourist services.
The video was made by the institute's production team and filmed in places such as Puerto Jiménez, Sierpe, Caño Negro, Puerto Viejo, Tárcoles, among others. It was published on the institute social media such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
The authorities will launch another chapter in the series next year with information on La Fortuna, Sarapiquí and the Central Valley.
Tourism has progressed in the past 40 years from being a relatively small activity in the Costa Rican economy to becoming a robust part of the country's economy, according to Gustavo Segura, Minister of Tourism.
That series is one of many initiatives to bring more tourists to Costa Rica. Recently, the authorities of Los Chiles Canton launched the canton brand with the goal of boosting tourism in the canton.
Last week, the Institute developed a series of online information guides in Spanish for tourists.
According to the Institute's updated statistics, European tourists are increasing.
Should the institute create information in the English language for international tourists? We would like to know your thoughts on this story. Send your comments to firstname.lastname@example.org
