The Mexican magazine Food and Travel, in its article "A look at Costa Rica," recommends their readers to visit Costa Rica.
According to the article's author, Andrea Cabrera, a writer of the magazine specializing in tourism and gastronomy, "Costa Rica is a country categorized as one of the most visited international destinations in the world."
The country is home to 5% of the existing biodiversity in the world and 25.58% of its territory is protected for conservation, these are some of the main achievements of the country, according to the author.
Among the sites recommended by Cabrera is San José City where tourists can visit the Gold Museum where part of the country's archaeological and artistic heritage is preserved.
Another recommended place to visit is the Central Market of San José, where tourists can explore traditional Costa Rican food at small restaurants, known as a Soda.
Among the places in the countryside, Cabrera recommends visiting the coffee plantations found on the slopes of the Poás Volcano, and the national park where the volcano is located in Alajuela Province. "In the place, you can admire an active volcano that also has one of the largest craters in the world," she wrote.
Another site recommended by the author is the La Paz Waterfall Gardens in Alajuela. "The place is made up of more than 70 hectares of wildlife and a forest to explore through 3.5 kilometers of trails and five beautiful waterfalls."
A must-go, according to the magazine, is Jaco Beach in Puntarenas Province. It's "one of the most popular beaches in Costa Rica." Plus that area has a mix of nature, restaurants and bars.
Further north, Cabrera recommends visiting Hermosa Beach in Guanacaste Province, where this "two kilometers of the beach shows a relaxed atmosphere and crystal clear waters, surrounded by a tropical forest. It is the perfect place to swim or dive."
Another unmissable place for tourists, the author said, is Tortuga Island, located off the southeast coast of the Nicoya Peninsula. "During the boat tour, you will watch whales and dolphins."
Tourism is recovering this year. According to the Juan Santamaría International Airport, this year more than 406,000 passengers were registered. This figure is equivalent to a recovery of 95% compared to the same month of 2019, the year before the pandemic.
All the advertising to travel to Costa Rica has local authorities expecting a significant increase in tourism, especially for the 2022-2023 cruise season. This new season is expected to exceed the number of cruise ships that arrived in 2019.
Just last year, over 1.3 million tourists visited Costa Rica.
