Statistics provided by the Institute of Tourism reveals that in 11 months after the reopening of the borders to tourism, from August 2020 to July 2021, there are 766,303 tourists that have arrived in the country.
That is equivalent to 49.88% of the number of visitors registered by the country in that same period from 2019 to 2020, according to data provided by the Institute of Tourism.
The month of July had 146,915 visitors arriving by air. According to specialists, last month had the most visitors in 12 months.
Data provided by the institute show that the majority of tourists come from the United States. They count for 549,752 travelers who have entered by air, followed by 110,907 Europeans.
The arrival of international travelers continues on an upward curve, the institute said in its statement.
All airlines have reinstated flights to Costa Rica, plus additional new routes from Frontier departing from cities such as San Francisco, Denver and Austin.

Air borders reopened on August 1, 2020, for travelers from the European Union. Since November 1, 2020, Costa Rica has received travelers from all over the globe.
