By the A.M. Costa Rica staff The Ministry of Technology enabled three apps required to read covid pass on devices that use IOS, Android or Huawei operating system. The application called "Acceso Salud" (Health Access in the English language) can be downloaded for free for IOS devices on the Apple store, in Google Play store for Android devices and Huawei app gallery for devices of that Chinese brand. Now businesses can use these free apps allowing them to verify their customers' covid-pass. The mandated covid-pass is obtained through a Quick Response Security code, QR, which is a type of barcode that contains the person's vaccination information. This technology will allow for quick verification of the status of vaccination against covid-19. According to the government, the "Acceso Salud" app has already successfully passed the technical and security tests. Once downloaded it will work even if the device does not have internet. The application is very secure, as it does not record or save data of any kind, the government said. The covid-pass is an international verification standard between countries. According to the Ministry of Health, they are the only institution that has access to the information on it. The covid-pass shows the data of the fully vaccinated people such as name, date of birth, vaccination status, ID, country and the Ministry of Health certification. The use of the covid-pass verification app for clients and workers will be mandatory beginning Jan. 8. However, the government authorized a transition period before that day. The option is to allow the entry of 100 fully-vaccinated clients or allow the entry of only a percent of the clients between vaccinated and unvaccinated. Authorities simplify the process to obtain the covid-pass for people who were inoculated in Costa Rica.
